Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

This session will provide a general overview of the topic of FGM, encompassing the rationale for the practice, health complications, legislation, and other aspects affecting those who have undergone FGM and those at risk of undergoing the practice.  It is expected that by the end of the training, participants will have:

• An understanding of what constitutes Female Genital Mutilation
• Knowledge of how best to offer help and support
• Be aware of the responsibilities within your own role
• Have an increased knowledge of national and local services.
