Cumulative Effects of Harm

This course will help practitioners:

• Be familiar with local procedures and national guidance
• Understand how effective partnership working can reduce harm
• Know how to keep focus on the needs of the child
• Understand and apply the cycle of change
• Have an opportunity to network and to reflect on your own practice
• To understand what works well in responding to the effects of cumulative harm
• Understand how the risk factors of parental mental illness, substance misuse and domestic abuse co-exist within families and the implications for safeguarding children
• Understand the impact on children and young people, in relation to immediate risk, their day to day lives and long term implications
• Describe the impact on parenting capacity
• Explore learning from Review findings
